Stuller & Platinum
In 1990, Stuller began manufacturing with platinum, and since that time, platinum use has grown by 700%. During WWIl, platinum was considered a strategic resource, making it unavailable to the jewelry industry. At the dawn of the 1990s, it stepped back into the jewelry spotlight - a position it had not enjoyed since the Art Deco period. Stuller embraced this opportunity. And today, we offer the industry's most extensive range of platinum products. These range from fabricated metal and findings to mountings, bridal, and jewelry. Platinum's extraordinary qualities make it the ideal choice for jewelry. When you understand these qualities you can sell platinum more readily.
Working With Platinum
Platinum presents unique manufacturing challenges. To meet them, you need to understand platinum's nature and quality. "Depending on the alloy you're using, platinum melts at between 1,765 degrees Celsius and 1,800 degrees Celsius," says Randy Welch, Stuller's senior process engineer in metals technology. "So, you have to keep several things in mind for your safety and success.
Designing With Platinum
White, lustrous platinum invites creativity. And when you design with it, you combine both the science and art of working with this luxurious metal. Your platinum skills and techniques will set you apart as a jeweler of excellence as you create custom jewelry that will stand the test of time.
